Eurovizija.LT is known for its wide net of contestants, competing in multiple heats to decide on who has the best song for Lithuania. And Emi Acidic, the stage name for the artist Emilija Balsevičiūtė, is certainly one to watch for.

While born in Lithuania, Emi lived in East London since she was three years old, making her amongst the strong Lithuanian population in the United Kingdom. There, she honed her skills in singing through her school, and eventually garnered acclaim for her singing abilities from as faraway as Italy.

In addition, Emi is focused on her songwriting, of which “u broke me” represents the beginning of her journey. Showcasing her propensity towards lyrics and emotional connection, she is ready to strike with the song’s simplicity and resilience.

EurovisionFam.com has the honor of interviewing her before her heat, in which she talks about her journeys between Lithuania and the UK, along with her growth as a singer.

What were your first memories of Eurovision? What were some of your favorite songs?

“My first memories of Eurovision was watching it live on the TV with my parents, admiring all the dramatics and talent of all the participants and guessing where everyone would place, as well as rooting for Lithuania of course!”

If you could duet with any artist, who would it be and why?

“I’m inspired and drawn to so many artists it’s hard to pick one, but my biggest influences are probably Lana Del Rey, Phoebe Bridgers, Fiona Apple, Adele – the list could go on forever but definitely those 4 at the top.”

What motivated you to send a song to Eurovizija.LT?

“My main motivation for applying to be on Eurovision is the fact I truly want to succeed in music, the platform it gives you is life changing! Also the fact I have loved watching Eurovision as long as I can remember, it has always been a dream of mine to be on a stage as extraordinary as the Eurovision stage.”

What was the songwriting process like for “U Broke Me”?

“The songwriting process behind ‘u broke me’ was a developing experience and time for me, I had been hurt by someone I loved, at moments I felt broken and hopeless, but this song acts a message to anyone who has been through a heartbreaking experience, that there is hope, that you will heal, and you’ll come out stronger at the end of it all.”

What is something about Lithuania people should know more about?

“Something people should know about Lithuania is that it is that is an extremely resilient and creative country. It has a deep and fascinating history, inspiring culture and folklore with a strong connection to nature, and of course also that the Lithuanian language is one of the oldest in Europe.”

What is something from the UK you would like to bring to Lithuania?

“I think one thing I’m bringing from my UK influence is the emotional intention of the song, though as humans we feel deeply and intensely, I think Lithuanians often feel pressure to repress and remain stoic about their hardships and experiences. I hope this song allows people in Lithuania to emotionally connect and find comfort in the song’s message.”

What do you think are the differences between a vocalist and a singer? How do you adjust your skills for each?

“I think a vocalist is someone who has practiced and polished the theory and technicality of singing, and a singer is an artist, entertainer, and performer all in one. They go hand in hand and it’s important to have both skills to succeed in the music industry. I will always use the technicality and method I have learned and practiced behind singing as an artist.”

What are your goals for 2026?

“My goals for 2026 include releasing my first EP, performing my own headline gig and hopefully having more career defining opportunities!!”

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

“In ten years I see myself touring, sold out shows, and still releasing music.”

You have gained the attention of the international crowd, even with people who couldn’t traditionally vote in the Contest. How does it feel to know that your music is reaching corners of the world outside of the Eurovision crowd?

“It feels surreal that my music has been played in so many different corners of the world, I hope people are enjoying and I am so grateful.”

If you could perform in any country outside of Europe and Australia, where would you want to go and why?

“It’s a massive dream of mine to perform in America!”

EurovisionFam.com is a website focused on fans from non-participating countries. What would you like to say to them?

“I hope that everyone from everywhere can enjoy my music, I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer and stay tuned to watch me reach my potential!”
