Turning Up the Sound in Luxembourg

In just one week, the Luxembourg Song Contest will return for its third year running. Eight acts, each chosen through a multi-round audition process back in October, will take to the stage at the Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette on 24 January. The show will kick off at 20:00 CET, and by 22:30 CET, we will know which one of these artists has been chosen to represent Luxembourg on an international stage, taking the torch from the country’s 2025 Eurovision representative, Laura Thorn.

Hosts Hana Sofia Lopes, Loïc Juchem, and Raoul Roos will guide viewers through the contest. We don’t yet know the running order in which the eight hopefuls will perform, but in the meantime, below is a list of the artists and their songs in alphabetical order:

  • Andrew the Martian – “I’m the Martian”
  • Daryss – “Melusina”
  • Eva Marija – “Mother Nature”
  • Hugo One – “Born Again”
  • Irem – “Bad Decisions (Hush Hush)”
  • Luzac – “Prison dorée”
  • ShiroKuro – “Eye to Eye”
  • Steve Castile – “Sweet Tooth”

The songs on offer this year are almost all in English (two, “Melusina” and “Prison dorée,” are in French) and have a wide variety of sounds and moods, ranging from indie to electronic and from uplifting to dramatic. Past followers of the Luxembourg Song Contest will recognize Luzac as the singer who participated in last year’s edition with “Je danse,” placing second with the juries and third overall.

While viewers wait for the votes to be tallied, we will be treated to a star-studded cast of interval acts. MariKo, a duo formed at auditions for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 and who made it to the final audition round for this year’s edition, will perform their song “Ah Jo.” Eurovision Song Contest 2025 victor, JJ, is expected to sing his winning entry “Wasted Love.” Last year’s champion, Laura Thorn, will return to the stage in Esch-sur-Alzette as well, and is due to perform her new song “Not On Me.”

The winner will ultimately be chosen through a combination of public televoting and an international jury.
