It’s the beginning of spring, better weather is upon us, and also it’s Easter weekend… so if you have no plans and have the budget to afford the trip: Pre-Party E-S in Madrid is the right one for anyone. And for us, fans from non-participating countries, this event can be the perfect match for those of us who’d like to experience something related to our beloved contest in person.
After my experience in their 2023 edition, I’ll share with you a few of the main reasons why YOU should attend Madrid’s Eurovision Pre-Party.
Madrid is THE MOMENT!
Listen Eurovision Fam, Madrid as a city is a vibe! It’s a town that blends history, tradition, and contemporary influences in a way like no other place in the world. Not only that, it’s also accessible to move around pretty nicely on public transportation. There are attractions for all kinds of people and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
When I visited back in April 2023, I not only attended the pre-party, I stayed around the city for a few more days and I don’t regret my experience – at all. And to be honest, I’m ready to be back next year!
Even though Madrid is somewhat of an expensive city, with some good research, you can easily accommodate your experience to your budget.
Great food, great museums (got to visit a couple!), good vibes all around the city, good people, and the city’s nightlife has options for people with all tastes and experiences. Also, the neighborhood of Chueca remains as a top recommended area for the LGBTQ+ community – accessible, friendly, full of great bars, and some of the best drag queen shows you can go to in Spain!
A Weekend You’ll Never Forget
Organized by Eurovision-Spain, one of the largest and longest-running fansites in both Spain and in the Spanish language, the Pre-Party E-S NEVER disappoints. Also, did you know that the pre-party’s regular venue (as of 2023), La Riviera, is located by the Manzanares River? Isn’t that cool?
For its first editions from 2017 to 2023 (saving the 2 online celebrations organized during the pandemic years of 2020 & 2021), the event was split into an opening concert on Friday and the bigger concert on Saturday.
The opening concert normally features former Eurovision stars from Spain and beyond, plus contestants from that year’s national selections (if done or applicable); while Saturday’s big concert features all the participants from that particular year’s contest that accept the invitation to show up to the party, including that year’s local representative.
Both nights include a great crowd, great vibes, and a very well-paced concert each night. For their upcoming 8th edition in 2024, Eurovision-Spain is expanding the party, from 2 to 3 days. They have announced that on the Thursday of the week it takes place, it will be a costume party for fans to have fun, enjoy great Eurovision tunes, and party until dawn comes around, with the regular Friday & Saturday events coming back once more.
A Pre-Party for Todos, Todas y Todes!
The team behind E-S ensures that the environment at La Riviera is welcoming for all folks and that it stays a safe and fun party for all of those who attend.
If you don’t drink alcohol, don’t worry, there’s options for you. If you love a few drinks, there are options for you. Also, in 2023, the team at Eurovision-Spain stepped up measures to provide an even safer environment for todos, todas y todes by establishing a booth for reporting any harassment incidents that take place within the vicinity on both nights of the event.
These are just a few reasons, but Fam, you can rest assured knowing that you will have an amazing time at the pre-party! The team organizing the event does whatever is in their power to make you, and everyone attending, feel safe at all times.

The next edition of Pre-Party E-S will be taking place in Madrid from March 28-30, 2024 and the first batch of tickets was released by the time of publication.
